Steve Spurrier has put South Carolina football on the map, and the Old Ball Coach is beginning to resemble the insufferable cad of his Florida Gator days.
And he seems to have found a new foil — Ole Miss, oddly enough — to add to his favorite targets, Georgia and Tennessee.
His latest feud began a couple of weeks ago as he was complaining about Georgia seemingly having an easier schedule than the Gamecocks in the SEC East.
“You think I make the schedule? If I made the schedule Georgia would be playing LSU and we’d be playing Ole Miss,” he said.
Ole Miss coach Hugh Freeze picked up on the slight and responded.
“We do play them in 2013,” Freeze said. “I will circle that one and hopefully change his perspective of Ole Miss football.”
Spurrier, of course, has never let anybody have the last word, so he used a visit to ESPN headquarters in Bristol, Conn., this week to comment on Freeze’s recruitment of Penn State
