Rathbun Not Chopped, Wins $ 10,000

Chef Kevin Rathbun was the winner on a new Sunday edition of the Food Network’s Chopped TV show,  appearing in a family feud  with his brother, Kent Rathbun.

With twenty minutes to  prepare a three-course dinner, with ingredients like gooseberries, cinnamon rolls, and Japanese cola candy, Rathbun worked his magic and won some big bucks for his charity, the Atlanta Community Food Bank.

Optimist Makes Bon Appétit Hot 10

Last week, Bon Appétit released its annual list of America’s 50 Best New Restaurant nominees. As in 2012, two Atlanta restaurants, the General Muir and the Optimist, are on the list, and the Optimist ended up on the final Hot 10 list, as chosen by the magazine’s “Foodist,” Andrew Knowlton.

Last year, Cakes & Ale and Cardamom Hill made the 50 best list, and Cakes & Ale ended up on the final Hot 10 list.
