Milton, Ga.-based battery manufacturer Exide Technologies is closing its plant in Columbus, Ga., affecting 251 people.
Exide filed a federally required notice of the action, which was effective March 1, with the Georgia Department of Labor.
All battery manufacturing operations ceased at the plant on March 2, 2019, the company said in a statement. The plant will operate as a formation center with a limited staff until the plant closes entirely in March 2020, it said.
